Drawings and Concepts

This concept is based on a rectilinear, modern hotel tower, transitioning seamlessly with a 4-story retail podium.  The tower is placed towards the south end of the site, and allowed to express itself directly down to the street level plaza.

The street level incorporates a green plaza on the south end of the site and creates covered entry spaces on the east and west edges.  The podium of the building incorporates retail, commercial meeting spaces and offices.  The roof garden level of the podium includes a dynamic gathering space for meetings, receptions and other ceremonial activities.  The architectural character of the podium is intended to be a direct extension of the tower.

The articulated floor plan of the hotel allows for balcony spaces throughout, as well as southern access and views for all units.  Differences in glass colors break up the formality of the tower into distinct elements, while the fenestration pattern expands and compresses as it moves up and around the building, giving the façade a sense of motion and fluidity.
