Hanrehan Lake House | Savage, Minnesota
Designed on a heavily wooded site on the north shore of the Lake Hanrehan Preserve, the house for a family of four embraces the natural setting as a bold example of “Organic Minimalism”. The clarity of composition of this three-level house organizes the Public living and office spaces on the Main level and Private Bedroom spaces on the third level, while the Lower level is comprised of guest and entertainment spaces. The Main and Lower levels have direct access to outdoor spaces of the site. Horizontal bands of fiber cement panels clad the floor and roof structure, while floor to ceiling windows and vertically organized cedar siding boards create a rhythm of reflection and shadows, echoing the form and abstraction of texture of the surrounding trees.
